Touchstones - blogs

This blog followed our progess on the Touchstones project, from when we began working with our partners Age UK and started helping bereaved older people to learn practical new skills.  

The project finished in February 2014 and we will be adding more blogs as we finish collecting the many stories from Touchstones and reflecting on the outcomes and the impact it had.

What a busy time we have had at the Touchstones project in the Harrogate district.  We have learnt new skills, polished old skills and shared our own knowledge with each other.  We have explored numerous areas including cooking and baking, household tips, IT, gardening, sewing, DIY, getting ready for Christmas and holidays for one.

At our Settle meeting on Tuesday this week, we had a special visitor: Baker Mike, who demonstrated some delicious breads, to a very excited crowd.  The group at Townhead Court kept growing, as word spread along with tempting smells...

It has been two eventful weeks for our Harrogate group – last week we were painting with hot wax, and this week we were learning the far East work-out of tai chi! Painting with hot wax, otherwise known as encaustic art, was delivered by our very own client Alan whose beautiful paintings, all homemade using just an iron and wax, can be seen below...
