Superfast North Yorkshire
Superfast North Yorkshire (SFNY) is building a pioneering, multimillion pound network transforming North Yorkshire’s broadband speeds by end of 2014.
SFNY is the name given to the project bringing Superfast Broadband to North Yorkshire. The project includes a partnership with BT to deliver faster broadband to the county and also brings together other, earlier initiatives by NYnet and NYCC to address rural hot spots.
Aided by significant funding from Central Government (Broadband Delivery UK) and Europe (ERDF) along with investment from BT, Superfast North Yorkshire is bringing substantial upgrades to the broadband infrastructure.
By the end of 2014, 90% of our homes and businesses will have access to the benefits of fibre broadband and the remaining premises in the project area will have access to at least 2Mbps.
With over 700 green roadside cabinets to upgrade, the Superfast North Yorkshire team is working on a major planning and delivery project. This will be on a rolling six monthly schedule and means detailed information about specific areas will also emerge for different people at different times.
The most up-to-date information on the fibre rollout is available by checking the maps Here and, if you leave your details in the ‘register your interest’ section, the team will be able to email you nearer the time.
