Kirklees Dementia Friendly

This project is now archived. This page is retained for information purposes.

The Kirklees Dementia Friendly project is into its second year, with funding from Kirklees Council.

Kirklees Dementia Friendly will support communities to think about becoming more dementia friendly. Working in partnership with other organisations across the district, resources such as a dementia toolkit and training are available to groups and volunteers.

There is also support from our Kirklees Development Officer, Solo, who will be running events and other opportunities to find out more about dementia, or becoming a dementia friend.

Contact Information

Contact Solo on 0845 313 0270 or email solo@ruralyorkshire.org.uk with any queries in the Kirklees area. You can also have a look at our Community Hubs project, and see if becoming a hub is something your group or community venue would like to do with RAY's support. This will include making venues more accessible to people living with dementia, or putting on new activities for older people at risk of loneliness.

Dementia Friendly Toolkit

As part of the current dementia-awareness campaign nationally, RAY has produced a Dementia Friendly Toolkit which communities, businesses and individuals might find useful in making their environments more dementia friendly.

The toolkit is available electronically but hard copies available on request. Please click on the picture to be taken to the toolkit (PDF - opens in a new window or tab).

This course is open to all who care for someone living with dementia but is especially aimed at those who support someone still living at home, and priority will be given to people in this group if necessary.

The course covers a variety of subjects over four weekly sessions, every Tuesday in November from 10 November, and then on Wednesday 2 December. Ideally you should be able to attend all four sessions, but it may be possible to book certain sessions of particular interest.
