Have your say on the future of Rural Development funding

The Yorkshire and North East Rural Farming Network is inviting community groups from rural and farming communities across Yorkshire to a meeting with representatives from the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) to discuss the future of funding for rural development programmes.

Defra is working on putting together the objectives and priorites of the next RDP, which will commence in early 2015, and at least 5% of which will be channelled to community projects via a LEADER programme similar to that currently in place in many rural areas. In order to ensure that these priorities meet the needs of rural communities, Defra is organising a series of meetings across the country to hear directly from those affected.

The next meeting in our area will take place on Monday 20th May from 3.30pm to 7.30pm at the Holiday Inn Hotel, Scotch Corner, near Richmond. All who have an interest in how the Government prioritises rural development funding in future are welcome to attend.

Places are limited, and booking is essential. To find out more or to book a place at the meeting contact Sue Naylor at Tees Valley Rural Community Council on 01642 213852 or via email - emails are the preferred means of booking.

Meanwhile, the Yorkshire Dales LEADER programme is asking community groups in its area, particularly those who have received LEADER funding, to help it prepare for the next programme of funding by completing a short survey.
