Beecroft Cottages

This project has been seeking views about developing a new facility at the Beecroft Cottages in Horton-in-Ribblesdale.

Community consultation took place in June 2013 at the Horton-in-Ribblesdale Gala and at a public meeting at the village hall. f you missed the opportunity to have your say you can still contact clerk@hortoninribblesdale.org.uk who will be able to add your views to a report going to the Parish Council.

More about the project

Beecroft Cottages are a row of five 19th Century cottages originally occupied by workers at the Horton Quarry.

The new development would mean conversion work to the cottages so that they could provide facilities for both the local community and for visitors to the area.

Horton-in-Ribblesdale is a popular starting point for walking the Three Peaks and the Beecroft Cottages are just 10 minutes walk from the train station.  They are also in the Settle to Carlisle Conservation Corridor.

Draft plans were drawn up.  A feasibility study was carried out and costs for the development stage were calculated.

The project has been involving the Parish Council, Rural Action Yorkshire, Hanson UK, the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority, Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust,  and Craven College.
