Duke of York's Community Initiatives Awards Scheme open for nominations

The Duke of York's Community Initiatives Award for community projects in Yorkshire is open for nominations until the 30th June 2013.

To be eligible for the Award, community projects must be owned, led and developed by local people, and be well managed and inspire people to get involved. Awards are also given to individuals in exceptional circumstances to recognise outstanding leadership skills.

The award confers a royal seal of approval, which is of benefit in demonstrating your project's stature to potential partners and funders. It also enables access to a business management support scheme including workshops, networking and mentoring. Previous award winners include community centres and associations; a community-run cinema; Friends organisations supporting local parks, hospitals and other services; sports clubs; and even a community-owned scuba diving centre!

Projects can apply for the award themselves. More information about the award and how to apply can be found at the Duke of York's Community Initiative website.
