As part of its commitment to supporting rural communities, Rural Action Yorkshire is organising a series of local training sessions to show how to successfully develop robust and comprehensive community led plans and undertake community consultation.

Rural communities are changing. Faced with challenges such as cuts to services due to the constraints in public spending and also the Government’s aim to devolve power to a more local level to make them more responsive to local community needs, there’s a lot going on!

The introduction of the Localism Bill means that there is a new understanding about the benefits of local people having a greater say in decision making and the possibilities thrown up through initiatives like Communities Right to Buy and Right to Challenge.

Community Led Planning is one way to generate local community action that can produce better value solutions and new locally owned initiatives to meet future needs. A robust and comprehensive community led plan enables local people to create stronger, more vibrant and resilient communities, better able to respond to local challenges and opportunities.

This event is aimed primarily at those that are:

·       new to community led-planning,

·       looking to refresh their existing plan

·       wanting to engage the community

The session will  also cover how community-led plans fit into the context of the Localism Bill in relation to Neighbourhood Plans.

The charge for the event is £10 for the first delegate and £8 for each additional delegate from the same organisation.
