Rural Housing Week shines a spotlight on the need for more affordable, good quality housing across Yorkshire. Rural Action Yorkshire and the North and East Yorkshire Rural Housing Enabler Network (RHE Network) today launch a new initiative to help communities to look at solving the problem in their own village or market town by taking forward community-led housing solutions.

Hudswell to get new rented housing for local people

A rural community supported by Rural Action Yorkshire's Community-Led Housing project has announced that it has secured planning permission for a new housing development to provide affordable rented housing to local people. It will be the first development of its type in North Yorkshire.

Chancellor urged to issue Budget VAT refund scheme to village hall charities

Action with Communities in Rural England (ACRE) is urging Government to pledge £3 million in the Budget to refund the VAT paid by village halls on improvement work such as modern kitchen and toilet facilities and new meeting rooms.

CHARITIES AND ORGANISATIONS working to improve affordable warmth are getting ready for their second winter as part of Warm and Well in North Yorkshire.

All of the organisations taking part in the project are experts in fuel poverty and at improving cold homes, but this is their second winter working together under the ‘Warm and Well’ joint initiative.

Voice of Village Halls to be heard again

A new online voice for the 10,000 village and community halls has been launched by Rural Action Yorkshire's parent organisation, the national charity ACRE (Action with Communities in Rural England). The National Village and Community Halls Network will take over the role of the National Village Halls Forum and act as a reference group enabling the grass roots expertise of knowledgeable village and community hall trustees, volunteers and councillors to feed into meetings with MPs, Government departments and Consultation responses.

Partnership working in North Yorkshire reaches coldest homes

CHARITIES and organisations have been banding together this winter to bring an end to fuel poverty.

Warm and Well in North Yorkshire has been running since last year county-wide and thanks to successful partnership working, is reaching households and residents who need support this winter.
